Re-caulk: the $200 Miracle

Every failed silicone line stripped out and renewed — mold's eviction notice.

Grout belongs on flat joints. Every corner, tub-to-tile line and fixture penetration should be flexible silicone — and in most Bristol baths that silicone died years ago, inviting the black creeping lines every cleaner fails on. A full re-caulk strips every bead to bare substrate, treats any staining beneath, and lays fresh mold-resistant silicone with proper tooling. It's the cheapest transformation in bathroom care, and we include it in every regrout.

  • Full strip. All old silicone removed mechanically + chemically, not skimmed.
  • Every line. Corners, tub/pan joint, ceiling line, fixtures, niche edges, glass track.
  • 100% silicone. Mold-resistant, flexible, color-matched — never paintable caulk in showers.
  • Stain treatment. Shadowing beneath old beads treated before resealing.
  • Included in regrouts. Standalone $120–$300; always bundled in regrout quotes.

Bristol notes

Bristol's capes have the smallest shower floors in the footprint — a one-day re-tile that transforms the whole bath. In Bristol we re-caulk hundreds of tub lines a year: Bristol tub walls are the textbook case: 50-year-old 4x4 tile, missing grout at the tub line, a cracked corner tile letting water behind. Shower floors in the capes are small enough to re-tile in a day. A two-hour service that holds for years — if the substrate beneath is dry, which we verify free.

FAQ

Common questions

Re-caulk only — what does it cost?
$120–$300 for a full shower/tub detail, often same-week. Always included free-standing inside every regrout quote.
How long does it last?
Years, with ventilation and a squeegee habit. We include the 30-second maintenance routine at walkthrough.
There's staining under the old caulk — then what?
We treat shadowing before resealing. If the substrate is soft or the wall reads wet, we show you and price the real fix — no sealing over rot.
Which lines do you renew?
All of them: corners, tub/pan joint, ceiling line, fixtures, niche edges, bench seats, glass track. Partial re-caulks leave the next failure in place.
